Private tutor in Chino Hills, CA
Education
BA Mathematics, San Jose State University I decided to go the theoretical route in college and get a Bachelor of Arts (instead of a BS) because I love math! My goal is to make you feel comfortable enough with math to at least say you like it. While I did get half way to a Masters degree, I stopped because I was too involved with the high school where I was teaching. I did take higher level classes, such as Abstract Algebra, Numerical Analysis, and Projective Geometry (these are much higher than Calculus), but when we teach high school, we focus the classes from Algebra 1 through Calculus. I'm sorry, I cannot tutor Statistics.
Experience
I've taught high school mathematics for several years. During this time, I've also taught High School Spanish a few times. I'm academically fluent in Spanish and passed the IB test in high school. Aside from this, I've also taught English and Spanish abroad when I traveled to Turkey a few years back. Math has always been my specialty. I scored a 740 on the math portion of the SAT. I work well with students who feel they don't understand what their teacher is telling them. I can understand what the students are trying to communicate to me when they don't know exactly know how to say it. I can effectively tutor online when necessary. My document camera projects what I'm demonstrating as if it were a board in front of the room while I speak into the computer.

Hobbies
I have several hobbies and interests. I was a radio broadcaster for several years, hosting a music show, but also doing sports broadcasting (play-by-play, color commentary, halftime show). I still am a mobile DJ and play from time to time. I think my students are going to have me play at our high school coming up (yikes! pressure...) On TV, I enjoy watching basketball, football, baseball, and... tennis! I love the numbers (duh, math) as well as watching the athletes (I play basketball as well). On top of this, I enjoy listening to the broadcasters since I've done it before. Also, I enjoy travel. And eating. I have been to nine different countries, and I would like to go to more. I was head of the Vietnamese Club at a former high school, and I went to Vietnam twice. The other countries I've been to are Canada and Mexico, Panama, Germany, Turkey, Japan, South Korea, & Taiwan. I enjoy foods from all of these places, but nothing beats good ol' BBQ ribs for me. I also like camping, and I've gone on a driving trip around the United States.
